Here at Minnesota Wild Animal Management we pride ourselves on humane wild animal removal and prevention and would like to explain our methods and why we use them. We would like to start off by saying that the definition of humane is a bit different than what the common idea of humane may be. Let’s go over some common misconceptions:
Humane is a nicer way to take care of or remove wild animals in a home or other type of property, in order to prevent damages and eliminate the issue all together. Humane does not mean no-kill, many times it means the opposite. Before you feel bad, hear (more like read) me out…
Humane means using the most appropriate control processes in for the specific situation.
It’s a hot day and you want to trap an animal on your property but not kill, just trap. The traps maybe positioned on your roof, maybe under your deck, or maybe your backyard. A large part of trapping wild animals is waiting for them to get lured in. Then BOOM they are stuck. Now it’s their time to wait and that wait could be something excruciating. With the sun burning down, the struggle to get free, the lack of water and the long period of time the animal will remain in the trap until the animal control specialists come back and retrieve it. Even the most diligent animal removal company doesn’t have the time to come back every half an hour and check if the animal is caught.
Now let’s fast forward to Minnesota’s inevitable winter. You’ve got an animal up in your attic. So, you request a trap on your roof to safely confine the animal without an initial kill. How about I put you up on my roof, in the middle of winter and see how long you last…Of course, that would be horrible and I would never but you get my point. By the time you wake up the next morning any animal you’ve tried to spare will likely be frozen to death, which does not seem like a preferred method to go.
In short, we don’t like to see animals suffer from slow death, due to dehydration or being frozen stiff and in certain situations we can relocate them. This is the reason why all of our removal experts are highly trained in the humane way of removing wild animals. We understand the importance of wild animals on the earth but if they start invading our property it’s time to call the experts to remove the problem.
No kill is sometimes the farthest thing from humane in some circumstances. Our position on the subject stresses the ability to have multiple trapping capabilities, which are all high quality and effectively perform the tasks needed of them.
