Minneapolis MN Wild Animal Management

As the temperature drops, we cozy up inside our nice, warm houses. However, you and your family aren’t the only ones trying to hide from the cooler weather. With the change in season, every year, right on time, critters may look for a warmer place to live. Whether the invaders are as small as a teeny tiny ant or as big as a family of squirrels, raccoons, skunks or mice, they all need a home with plenty of food, a source of water, and a place to crash. Your house would be a makes a fantastic hideaway! Along with all of their pals!

Winter Is Coming… Are You Prepared?

Keep this fella out of your house this winter!

These critters all know that winter is coming too! So, they are getting prepared, looking for places to nest and raise their families that are protected from the cold winter temperatures. Your home would be just  perfect, especially if the conditions are just right!

In preparation for winter, homeowners should be proactive and vigilant in preventing pests from coming indoors.

Prevention

The bottom line to prevent fall invading critters is to take the time to seal all cracks and crevices. It will save a lot of energy and prevent them from entering your home. If done diligently, it will save a LOT of problems in costly repairs later.

Here are a few fall pest-proofing tips to do before the snow flies:

  • Install door sweeps on exterior doors and repair damaged screens.
  • Screen vents and openings to chimneys.
  • Seal cracks and crevices on the outside of the home, including areas where utilities and pipes enter.
  • Store food in airtight containers and dispose of garbage regularly in sealed receptacles.
  • Replace loose mortar and weather stripping around the basement foundation and windows.
  • Eliminate all moisture sites, including leaking pipes and clogged drains.
  • Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the house; keep shrubbery well-trimmed.

If unwanted critters are waging war on your house, it’s time to fight back. Contact a a Wild Animal Management Expert to make sure it’s wild life-proofed and while you’re at it, contact a Minneapolis Pest Exterminator to make sure it’s pest-proofed as well.
